We will begin by understanding the parts of the guitar, reading chord charts, basic rhythm strumming patterns, our first chords and travel to alternating bass patterns, bass walks, you will learn most all of your basic chords and begin to see how song patterns fit together making playing rhythm guitar easier to understand and play with others. No prior experience necessary.
Focusing on more demanding bluegrass rhythms and Swing Rhythm. Transitional chords, developing speed in rhythm, creating bass walks and runs, understanding barre chords and how to play them easily, transposing chords, understanding the Nashville Numbers System and much more.
This class will get the guitarist started in the world of flatpicking. Some basic chord knowledge is needed. You should know and be able to change somewhat comfortably your G, C and D chords and that's it.
This class will be a great challenge to any upper beginner flatpicker as we explore and use fiddle tunes, Bluegrass vocals and Gospel vocals as tools to learn new techniques. Finding ways to jump up and down the fingerboard into newer registers using more intricate fiddle tunes as example. We will explore new melodies and learning to play in different keys other than G and C. Learning how to use the neck for our different positions and when we want to use the higher registers. Use of the slides, hammer ons and pull offs will be the norm, and much more.
This class picks up where the Lead 103 leaves off with a smooth, continuous learning pattern of Flatpicking. We will learn new songs used to understand crosspicking, pattern licks and runs, scales in songs, beginning improvising, new right and left hand techniques and much more.
Focusing on Crosspicking and enhanced melodic playing. More ear training, a Lick of the Week, understanding the fingerboard and playing in different registers leading to eventually playing in any key. Playing leads more in open A, D, F and E.
