This class will get the guitarist started in the world of flatpicking. We will work on both Lead and Rhythm. This class is not for the Beginner's Beginner because some chord knowledge would be helpful though not necessary. Chords G, C, D, and F would be nice to know. You should be able to change the chords slowly at least.
Other chords will be shown and we will start with the techniques of Flatpicking leads (Much more fun than just playing chords).
This is a progressive class as you finish the Lead and Rhythm 101, you then move into Lead 102, then 103 and so on.
PDF's will be emailed to you the day of class. Usually around 1:30 Eastern time.
This class picks up (Down-Up) where the 101 left off. Also suited for folks that have a few tunes under their belt.
We will explore and use fiddle tunes and Bluegrass and Gospel vocals as tools to learn new techniques. We will explore new melodies and learning to play in different keys other than G and C. Harmonic Scales, interchangeable runs and licks, Use of the capo, slides, hammer ons and pull offs will be the norm,
Starting to play in different positions and up the neck in higher registers and much more.
This class picks up where the Lead 103 leaves off with a smooth, continuous learning pattern of Flatpicking. We will learn new songs used to understand crosspicking, pattern licks and runs, scales in songs, beginning improvising, new right and left hand techniques and much more.
We will be working on tunes that increase speed and inspire improvisational skills. Working with written materials but increasing our ear training through great tunes along with Bill Monroe, Doc Watson and Kenny Baker influence.
We will be doing more up the neck work along with understanding more about chord shapes and positions.
The student should have completed the Lead 201, 202 and 203 Series or contact Steve via email to see if you are ready.
