John Kael has been playing, teaching and performing bluegrass for over 20 years. Equally at home on the guitar, mandolin, banjo or bass, John has an undying passion for playing bluegrass music, and a deep knowledge of the history, nuance and repertoire. John has been an instructor at numerous camps and workshops around the country, including Sorrento music camp in Canada, Bluegrass by the Beach in Oregon and CBA Music Camp in CA, and has toured, performed and recorded with a number of local and regional bluegrass bands. John is also an IBMA Award-Winning songwriter, and proprietor of the much-beloved and sorely neglected bluegrasslyrics.com.

This class is open to all, but will be oriented toward beginners and intermediate players who want to hone their backup skills, build repertoire and focus on a support role in a jam or performance setting.

This class is not part of the flatpicking rotation - students who enroll will remain in this class through the week, building technique through incremental lessons.
