Cathy Fink

Cathy is one of the country’s finest clawhammer banjo players. In 1980 she became the first woman to win the West Virginia State Old Time Banjo contest, an honor she earned 3 times. She has taught banjo, guitar, fiddle, vocal styles, harmony singing and songwriting at music camps such as Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamps, Augusta, Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and Swannanoa since 1984. Her CD, “Banjo Haiku” has been an underground bible of clawhammer playing. The latest banjo recordings are “Banjo Talkin” (2007) and the 18 artist compilation, “OLD TIME BANJO FESTIVAL”, produced by Cathy & Marcy (2007).

Cathy teaches banjo online at (DVD-R and download courses) and in an online classroom here:

Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer have toured the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Israel, New Zealand and Australia. Their hot trio with fiddler Barbara Lamb represented the U. S. State Department on a cultural diplomacy tour to China, Malaysia, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.

Old time banjo players will have a great week with new repertoire and techniques, jam sessions and inspiration! Cathy will be out and about with her guitar, fiddle and uke for jam sessions, too!
