MUSIC GUIDE
Award-winning vocalist and guitarist, AUDIE BLAYLOCK is certainly one of the hottest Bluegrass artists today. Along with his band REDLINE, they are celebrating a load of #1 singles from numerous albums on the Rural Rhythm Records label, and thrilling audiences with their incredible musicianship, impeccable harmony and highly entertaining stage shows.
AUDIE BLAYLOCK & REDLINE have a brand new 2012 summer album release, HARD COUNTRY (Rural Rhythm), that includes the new single, “A Natural Thing.” The song is already appearing on the charts including the June 2012 Bluegrass Music Profiles Magazine Top 30 Hot Singles Chart and on the INTO THE BLUE’s TOP PICK OF THE MONTH on the Bluegrass Radio Network. “I chose the name HARD COUNTRY because I think it really defines the music on this disc. It still has that hard-driving bluegrass edge – then changes into slower paced ballad type songs as well, which really show cases the versatility of this band. It also shows just how closely bluegrass and country music are related,” explained Audie.

AUDIE BLAYLOCK & REDLINE are still celebrating their album, I’m Going Back to Old Kentucky (A Bill Monroe Celebration) that previously made its debut at #1 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 10 Albums in July 2011, and hit #1 on the Bluegrass Today’s Weekly Song Chart. The album continues to be a sure fire hit with radio with five songs (Cry Cry Darlin’, I’m Going Back to Old Kentucky, In Despair, Mighty Dark to Travel, and Out in the Cold) that topped the charts. Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine gave this project a big thumbs up saying, “The vocal work by Blaylock and others is topnotch, the instrumental support is right on the mark, and the Father of Bluegrass would no doubt find this release very much to his liking,” with Country Standard Time raving, “Put it on, turn it up, and drift away!”

AUDIE BLAYLOCK took center stage again in 2010 with his self-produced album, Cryin’Heart Blues, his sophomore album on Rural Rhythm Records. He continued to wow audiences with the energy of the early days of bluegrass to every show. “The song, “Cryin Heart Blues”, went to #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited Charts and the song “Matches” was one #1 on Sirius-XM Most Played Tracks.

Multi-Grammy® Award winner Carl Jackson writes in the liner notes of Audie’s first self-titled debut album on Rural Rhythm Records. “This new project by Audie Blaylock and Redline is not only bluegrass… its GREAT bluegrass… no argument… end of discussion!!! I was blown away by the professionalism of Audie’s performance at IBMA Fanfest this past year and this album further confirms that he is a force to be reckoned with in the world of bluegrass music for years to come.”

Instrumental Group of the Year Award at the 18th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards Show held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN in October 2007. Audie was the featured artist with Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper.  “I’m extremely honored to receive the award that so many prestigious and talented musicians have been nominated for and received in the past. This is a great honor for myself and the entire group,” said Audie Blaylock. “This is particularly humbling when you consider the caliber of the past recipients such as Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Nickel Creek, Del McCoury and others,” he adds.

In addition to playing with some of bluegrass music’s most distinguished acts over the years, including the great Jimmy Martin and Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Audie has also performed with the legendary Lynn Morris Band, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, and songwriting great, Harley Allen.

Born in El Paso, Texas into a family whose roots go back to the hills of Virginia and Tennessee, Audie learned to play guitar and sing with his parents and siblings, and went on to play locally in the Lansing, Michigan, area where he grew up. In 1982, at age 19, Audie Blaylock joined Jimmy Martin and The Sunny Mountain Boys and spent nine years on the road learning the craft of bluegrass from one of the music’s first-generation legends.
