Parking Lot Vol 5 Titles
Hi Steve,
This probably doesn't belong in the "Parking Lot ....series", but I love waltzes. I got your "Learn to Play Waltzes..." DVD, a couple of weeks ago.( Plus, your "Parking Lot" Vol 1, 2,3,and 4 series). I was wondering if you're ever planning on doing the same type of format with waltzes? You know, a regular music book with all the notes, from beginner to advanced, plus the DVD and maybe CD's. The booklet that comes with the DVD, is ok, but I'd rather see a regular music book. Watching the DVD is great, but being able to see the notes when you do the embellishments would be better; for me anyway.
Thanks, I really enjoy your work,
John Mielnik

Hi John
I would like to come out with a full course on waltzes so maybe we'll see that in the near future.
I am working on a new series for Mel Bay called "My First" books with a My First Banjo Picking tunes coming out next. then I want to finish the PLP series with #5 but most of those titles will come from the last 4-Hour Work Out Vol 2 that were not yet written out in the PLP series.
Let's see what comes down the pike after that.
Keep those suggestions coming. that's how manyof the books come to life.

I like the songs with lyrics, like your volume 3.
Second the nomination for Wabash Cannonball
Orange Blossom Special
Tennessee Stud (like Doc)
Silver Bells/Home Sweet Home (Earl Scruggs did a combo version years ago. Don't know about copyright issues with Silver Bells or that arrangement).
Thanks for your consideration and for many hours of instruction via cd/dvd!

Hello Mr. Steve!
A few more suggestions. You have covered these in a couple of your basic bluegrass instructionals but I'd really like to see 'em done in the Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced format:
Roll In My Sweet Babys Arms
Wabash Cannonball
Wayfaring Stranger
I know these would fit Mr. Traums criteria of not being subject to copyright fees - Speaking of which, neither would Tennesse Waltz (Hint, hint)
Regards,
Dieter

Those are all great titles but I am pretty sure that TN Waltz is still under copyright.
Cheers and keep those titles coming.

Parking Lot Pickers Vol 5 Suggestions
Hello Mr. Kaufman!
FARTHER ALONG
BLUE & LONESOME
WHY YOU BEEN GONE SO LONG
IF YOU'RE EVER GONNA LOVE ME
A GOOD WOMANS LOVE
WHO'S THAT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR
TRAVELLIN' DOWN THIS LONESOME ROAD
FADED LOVE
LISTEN TO THE MOCKINGBIRD
LONESOME WHISTLE BLUES - (This song is just very much like your 'In The Pines' - Maybe you could post it on-line?)
I've posted most of these before but , upon review, realized some songs were incorrectly titled...
I tried to learn 'LIFE'S MOUNTAIN RAILWAY' from your 'Flatpicking The Gospels' instructional but the song seems to begin w/ a Beginner version, morph into an Intermediate versin & conclude w/ an Advanced version (WAY beyond my ken) - I'd like to see this re-done ala the 'Parking Lot Picker' format: One verse in Beginner, one in Intermediate & one in Advanced...
Likewise, I just bought your 'Crowd Pleasers' instructional to learn 'LAST THING ON MY MIND' - Not as complex as 'Mountain Railway' but I'd still like a re-do w/ 3 verses/versions...
Finally, anything you deem worthy from the LOUVIN BROS would be great...
Thanks,
Dieter
Parking Lot Pickers Vol 5 Suggestion Additions
Hello Again, Mr. Kaufman!
I was just listening to 'Muleskinner Live', featuring Clarence White, & I realized that I forgot to suggest another one of my favorites, 'BLUE & LONESOME" from the aforementioned CD...
Also, Clarence & the Colonels perform really fine instrumental versions of 'FADED LOVE' & 'LISTEN TO THE MOCKINGBIRD' on the Appalachian Swing CD...
Thanks & Best Regards,
Dieter

Similarly, I couldn't follow H. Traum's instructional for 'FARTHER ALONG' - Please apply your method...
Also,
From C. White & the Colonels:
'IF YOU'RE EVER GONNA LOVE ME'
'A GOOD WOMANS LOVE'
From the Dreadful Snakes:
'WHO'S THAT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR'
'TRAVELLIN DOWN THIS LONESOME ROAD'
'LONESOME WHISTLE BLUES - (This song is just like your 'In The Pines' but w/ an additional key change - Maybe you could post the key change verse?
From T. Rice or Cox Family:
'I FEEL THE BLUES MOVIN' IN'
When it comes to instruction method, you are the BEST!!! I wouldn't have 1/10th my ability or knowledge w/o your materials - Thanks SO MUCH for considering my requests..

Dieter

I like this kind of input. Keep in mind they should be public domain and tradition if possible. Homespun may not want to incur the cost of royalties if they can help it.
Let's see a list develop.
Thanks and enjoy

I might write that one out for the downloads section of the site. I first heard Doc do that one about 30 years ago. He was playing Winfield and they were broadcasting on the radio and I taped it on my little GE cassette recorder.
Great song!
