Dreadnoughts Unlimited Update
For several years we have raised funds through Dreadnoughts Unlimited for scholarships to Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp by a variety of methods. Chief among them has been a raffle of a quality musical instrument. We are not going to have a drawing for Dreadnoughts Unlimited at kamp this year, but will continue to raise funds by other means.
Thanks to generous contributions from the winner of the Naugler guitar last year and from other supporters of the scholarship fund, we will be able to award scholarships for kamp 2009. Applications are currently being accepted, and everyone who is motivated to advance his or her musical skills is encouraged to apply. One reason for not having a drawing this year is to avoid confusion among kampers. A drawing separate from Dreadnoughts Unlimited has been set up to give away a Proulx mandolin, and the funds raised by that raffle will benefit the Studdard Family Scholarship. Seth Naugler is building an OM guitar that will be displayed at kamp for your perusal. It will be given away at kamp 2010, and we will begin accepting donations after this year's kamp sessions for that raffle. This will be a fantastic "multi-purpose" guitar - it will fit "mature bellies" better than a dreadnought - it will hold its own in a jam - it is going to be a fingerstylist's dream.
