I'm new to the mandolin, and am wondering what folks use in the way of picks. I like Steve's yellow picks for guitar, but am interested in finding out what works best on the mando. Thanks!

On mandolin I use anything from the Green picks at .88mm up to 1.25mm.

On guitar I use the yellows but can use the greens and not thicker. The tones are crisp and clear. On mandolin, since the beast is different I can use 88s but nothing lower and many shades higher.

Best and enjoy!

Thanks, Steve -- I'll experiment within that range and see what I like best.

By the way, I see that you have an anniversary coming up, and wanted to wish you a happy one.

Hope all the preparations for Kamp are going well.

All the best,

Jeff

Do that. But to keep it simple I use a Green .88. Nice and clean and clear.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. This is 21 for us! Fastest 21 years imaginable. Cheers
